Big fan of this vest! It’s the perfect size for any length race with regular aid stations and most of my shorter runs. I’m from Texas and do quite a bit of running in the hot afternoons and the Spry 2.0 feels lighter and cooler than some other packs I’ve tried. It dries quick too, so you don’t have to worry about it starting to smell too funky. I’ve thrown it in the washing machine too (on gentle cycle) and the stitching and straps are holding up.

The only thing is, you really do need to use the ultra flasks and bladders for this pack. I’ve used a hard plastic nathan bottle and a hydraflask soft flask in the pockets of the vest and they dig into your ribs and bounce a lot. Once I switched to the ultraflasks, the bouncing stopped and the bottles didn’t dig into my ribs. The good news is that the ultra flasks are such great bottles you won’t even miss or want to use your other bottles. Seriously. They’re the best of both worlds–the comfort of soft flasks but the structure and ease of filling of hard plastic bottles.

My one comment for an update would be a bigger waterproof cell phone pocket. I have an iPhone6 in with a fairly minimal case and its fits in the pocket but I can’t close the the velcro for pocket.

Used this vest (actually I have 2 I love it so much!) at a recent multi-day ultra race….i was perfect and pretty much the talk of the village aid station where everyone else was heaving on their huge packs there i was, one of the tallest in the race with the smallest pack. 1L in the back, 2 x 500ml flasks in the front and all the mandatory kit required neatly stowed.

I like to give a shout out to UltrAspire. I used the original Spry race vest for a 24 hour ultra which I haven’t done in years.
It was light and easy to use I didn’t have to think about taking it on and off it was effortless. So much that I ended up doing
102 miles under 24 hours and won. I just recently bought the Spry 2.0 it’s even better, being able to put 2 flasks up front
and 1 liter bladder in back. it’s lightweight toting that amount of fluids and being able to fit a phone and some gels and a couple keys. Maybe I’ll get back on the circuit. It begs you to keep running.
    Well done UltrAspire

This vest is awesome. Due to an injury of my shoulder and neck, I needed to avoid carrying weight on my back and/or hand bottle so gave this a try. With the 2 front pockets the weight is better distributed for my neck/shoulder strain. It is very comfortable and I would recommend this as a lightweight alternative to hand bottles. It has also been great to be hands free for cold winter runs. It adjusts quickly and can be easily fitted to changes in clothing layers or size.

After loving my Alpha vest, I was talking with one of your “Elite Immortals”, who highly praised the comfort and fit of the new Spry 2.0 .
1st off , the price is incredibly low considering what you are receiving. I found the vest to be everything that I was hoping it to be …. comfortable, very light, nice fit, with no bouncing. I really like the magnet closure in the back. I’ll use this for 50K’s, and shorter day runs where a single water bottle is enough. And I’ll switch to the Alpha when I feel the need to carry a bladder.
    Thanks for another great product

Great fit, light and plenty of storage. I’ve used this on two runs so far. I’ve been impressed with how light it is and how it stays snug to your body without having to adjust it every 5 minutes. Love the magnetic latch on the small pocket up front and the 2 small lower pockets are perfect for gels. This little vest has a lot of the features that the larger vests have, but allows you to keep the minimal footprint.

I’m training for my first 50k and needed a very minimal multifunctional vest. Never used one before so I looked around a bit. After watching the demo video of the vest in action was sold. My only concern was it getting in the way of my arm swing…Not a problem at all. Tested it out on an 8 miler and it blew my mind. Very easy to access all pockets. Jelly Bellys in little magnet pocket .No problem adjusting side straps while in motion. 16oz UD bottle in one pocket and gel pack in the other. No crazy bouncing with full or empty bottle. And dry’s fast.

So far so good did 12 miles on trail today 7/30 and after a few tweaks all went great lightweight, and when I got back to my home hosed it off and let hang dry perfectly. Minimal weight and hardly noticed wearing it! Awesome

The spy 2.0 is a perfect update to the original. UltraAspire really listened to to the flaws and fixed them. From the nice new brighter colors, to the new pockets and for me the best addition is the stretch strap! The hold cinch system was OK, but when it started to fail, I found myself re-tightening every couple miles in an Ultra. Now I just set it, hook it, and forget it.

I add the 1liter pouch and the vest just snugs to my back with no bounce at all.

I recently purchased the Spry 2.0 and it is great. The Spry 2.0 is the perfect mix of weight and capacity for a 2-4 hour run. I have used several different vests and hydration systems and this is my favorite to date… even over the outstanding UD SJ 2.0. To gain even more capacity and flexibility I sometimes combine it with the Ultraspire Synaptic Race Belt. Excellent combination! The other nice feature of Spry 2.0 is that it is a one size fits all vest that very comfortably and securely fits on my 5’10” 225lb, 48″ chest frame. I had my doubts before ordering as I have had problems in the past finding race vests that fit my frame. Thanks Ultraspire! I highly recommend the Ultraspire Spry 2.0. Happy running.

Absolutely love the Spry 2.0 vest. I have been using the vest on runs from 15 to 50 miles. It is a great minimal vest. My favorite thing about the vest is the weight. You don’t even know you have it on. The vest has just enough storage in the back for extra gear or a bladder and you can choose to strap a jacket on the outside if you want. Plenty of room up front hydration up front or more storage. This vest is a great do it all vest with an everything you need set up.

Love this pack. I’ve been using the Spry since the original and happy to have been able to play with the new 2.0 recently for a couple races. The updates have made this pack the perfect pack for any race and adventure. For those who like a minimal feel but enough storage for a couple hours on your own, this is perfect. I love the new front pockets for bottles side pockets for trash. Lightweight and comfortable is the name of the game and this vest is a winner for me.

Spry 2.0 works for me. I have used it on two 30 mile training runs. I use a UD hand held and put 2 standard UD bottles in the back (tight squeeze but worked fine, just need to remove the pack to change bottles). Plenty of room in the front pockets for nutrition, phone, gloves, etc. Vey comfortable and stable. I like the small footprint as I sweat a lot. Highly recommend.

This pack is excellent if you want to go lightweight, yet still have pockets and room for Gu, fuel, phone, salt tabs. The bladder area fits both 1.5 liter and 2.0 liter bladders, on the larger you can just roll extra bladder material down into reservoir holder. Pack also has bungi on back for extra lighter weight clothes/hat. This would be a great spring/summer pack where you don’t need large pocket in back for heavier clothes. I used it on Marin 50 mile race and worked well as I could carry some of my fuel and depend on aid stations where I didn’t have extra room. The bottle pocket sits lower in front and great for women who don’t want bottles bouncing at breast height. No chafing for 50 miles!

  15. Rated 5 out of 5

Spry 2.0 is a smart update to the original! Bigger (cinch) pockets in the front hold a ton: from your nutrition to cell phone to gloves to water bottles. I have used it for longer 15+ miles on the trail with a 1L bladder and it worked perfect! It was comfortable and the best part: The closures on the front are easier to take on and off than the original. Best small hydration pack around!
