Solid successor to the 1.0 version. The combination of the new material, better internal frame and the larger waist pockets make this a real winner. It works well for hikes, runs, fast packing and anything else you can throw at it. Will hold a 3L reservoir as well. I would say to stay around 20lbs or under and you will benefit the most. Any heavier puts a lot of wear on your shoulders.

Works great! Was able to run with it fully loaded (22lbs) with minimal bounce. There was more than enough space for a 2 night fastpack in the cold. It did not fit my soft flasks from another brand in the front(too tall), but it did fit another brands soft flasks I had. I have since bought the semi soft ultraspire flasks. It got lots of compliments from other hikers on the trail. It rained the whole time and there is no rain cover included (or offered online). So I had to use another brands cover which confused some of the people complimenting. Don’t worry, I let them know what brand they were looking at. Overall a great pack and I look forward to using it for future adventures. Most of my other backpacking packs now collect dust.

I also have the 1.0 and have found the minor changes made to the Epic XT 2.0 make this the perfect pack for me. I am 5’11” and 140lbs and I can literally reach more pockets and latch points on this pack than any pack or vest I have owned. I will start at the top; top pocket zipper and inside are a great size for lights, etc and I can access it without removing the pack, this is also true for the latch points for poles/jacket BOTH on the back of the pack and bottom of the pack… The mods to the waist pockets were spot on, as I can now put a water filter, squeeze bottle, and purification tabs in 1 spot and process water without pack removal. The rest of the front pockets hold the 550 bottles, inReach Mini, larger phone, nutrition, lip balm and other essentials… and lastly the side bottle pockets are a great size to hold and access common 1L bottles from pre-packaged waters. If the large storage pocket size fits your gear, this is a great pack for you. I have already logged several fastpack efforts up to 48hrs and had everything I needed AND carried up to 6L of water. The new material is breathable on the front and lightweight and durable on the body of the pack. I did pay for this pack and am an Ambassador for UltrAspire- but that doesn’t honestly affect my opinion of how well done this pack is by Bryce Thatcher and Team!

I was hesitant to make this purchase due to the price compared to other hiking packs on the market. I’m glad I did. I fell in love with this pack. I love the shoulder pockets and pouches. Great for storage or water bottles, sunglasses, lip balm and bars. I used it for a trip to Zion National Park and Sequoia. I used my pack for over 8 hours for multiple days, I was comfortable wearing it for such long hours without any pain. The pack was loaded with 2.5 liter reservoir, down puffy, food, first aid kit, trekking poles and navigation tools. The large mesh stretch pouches and pockets were awesome to store wet items. The minimalistic design works great. Just enough straps and pouches to get the job done. I LOVE this pack. I highly recommend this pack.

I own the first version and this has some noticeable improvements. I LOVE the new insulated bladder setup. I am not a huge fan of the tinfoil type material that tends to wear out. This new design alone is worth the upgrade! The waist belt is significantly wider and adds a lot more stability. The stretch mesh is a huge improvement. Very satisfied!

I purchased the Epic XT 2.0 for hiking and all my outdoor endurance adventures. I love the front pockets that hold my phone and flasks in place very easy excess to get to them quickly if need be. Being in the mountains you need a tons of stuff and this pack holds it all. It’s light weight and breathable. Definitely my go to now when I’m the mountains.

  7. Andrew Garcia

This pack was just the pack I was looking for to support me during long solo stints in the mountains! It satisfies all the dimensions I was looking for – versatile, comfortable, compressible with capacity, multi-pocket/pouch accessible, easy-to-use trekking pole straps, and also is a beautiful looking pack to the eyes! Super excited to know that I can bring all I need and have it within easy and all without feeling any bulk or bounce. Looking forward to all the amazing places this pack and I will go!!

This is by far the best fast pack that I have used. Other brands do not compare. This has a better frame, other packs lack a frame, and the materials of construction are way more durable. This pack is durable enough and large enough to be used as through hiking pack, and or multi day adventure pack.
