Race the Rocks – 50K Mountain Challenge

Discover the rugged beauty of City of Rocks National Reserve and Castle Rocks State Park, two of the most iconic climbing destinations in the U.S., as you conquer a challenging 50K mountain race. Surrounded by soaring granite spires reaching up to 1,000 feet, this race offers breathtaking panoramic views, historic trails, and an unforgettable mountain experience.

This cross-country course features primarily single-track trails, including the legendary Log Run—a 1,500-foot ascent in just 1 mile, once used by pioneers to transport logs for cabin construction. The high point of the race, Graham Peak, provides awe-inspiring vistas as the trail winds through the towering spires, making this a true test of endurance and a celebration of nature’s grandeur.

Race the Rocks is a charity event dedicated to giving back to the Almo community. Every registration, every mile, and every runner helps fund local initiatives that make a lasting impact. Whether you’re here for the challenge or the cause, your participation directly supports the people and places that make Almo special.
